Channeling Overview

What It Is and How It Works

What Is Channeling?

Channeling is the practice of receiving and transmitting communication from a non-physical source ~ a consciousness, intelligence, or a Being that exists beyond the ordinary reach of the physical senses. The Channel serves as a conduit: they do not invent or compose the message, but receive and pass it on.

Waith, who speaks through Channel Mushiba, says that he is here to provide information that will enable a person to balance between the earth plane ~ the concrete ~ and the spiritual ~ the abstract ~ and learn how the two are interconnected.

Channeling is not Fortune Telling because while channeling can occasionally offer glimpses into future trajectories, its core goal is not to predict exact events but to offer higher-level perspective and tools for self-discovery. And, Possession, where an external force takes over and overrides a person's will, channeling is generally a cooperative, energetic alignment. The Channeler maintains voluntary control.

How Channeling Works

The mechanics of channeling vary by practitioner and tradition, but most descriptions share a common structure: the Channel enters a receptive state ~ sometimes a light meditative awareness, sometimes a deeper altered state ~ in which their ordinary mental activity quiets enough to allow a different kind of communication to come through.

In this receptive state, the Channel may receive impressions, words, images, or feelings that originate from the communicating source rather than from their own thinking mind. They then translate and transmit what they receive, either aloud or in writing. Some Channels retain full awareness throughout; others enter a deeper trance.

When reading or hearing channeled information, discernment matters more than openness. This does not mean closing yourself off, but rather transitioning from passive receptivity to active participation. The goal is to remain consciously aware of what you are receiving, acting as a witness rather than a vessel.

The Forms Channeling Takes

Channeling manifests in several distinct forms:

  • Spirit communication ~ the belief that the living can receive messages, impressions, or contact from those who have died, or from non-physical entities existing on other planes of existence.

  • Trance channeling ~ The Channel enters a deeper altered state, sometimes with no memory of what was said. The communicating Being may speak directly, often in a noticeably different voice or manner.

  • Automatic writing ~ The Channel holds a pen or types, allowing the source to guide the physical movement and produce written material with little or no conscious composition.

  • Mediumship ~ communication with those who have passed and, yet, is not identical to the broader category of channeling which is the broader category that encompasses communication from guides, angels, collective intelligences, and higher aspects of consciousness.

Where Channeled Wisdom Comes From

The question of source is central ~ and honestly, not fully resolved. Different traditions and individual Channels describe their sources differently. Among the most commonly reported:

  • Guides and teachers ~  Evolved non-physical beings whose purpose is to assist human growth and understanding.

  • Angels and archangels ~ Beings of high spiritual intelligence understood, in many traditions, as existing in service to the divine and to humanity.

  • Collective or group consciousness ~ Rather than a single being, some Channels describe receiving from a collective intelligence that speaks as one.

  • The higher self ~ Some understand channeling as contact not with an external being but with the deepest, wisest dimension of one's own consciousness.

  • Waith, who is Archangel, has been speaking through Mushiba since 1987. His information is archived on the terralux.org website.

What is notable across traditions is the consistency of certain qualities in channeled material, regardless of how the source is described: wisdom oriented toward love, clarity, and the wellbeing of those who receive it; perspective that transcends the ordinary limits of personal experience; and a voice that feels recognizably distinct from the Channel's ordinary self.

Is Channeling Real and Is it Safe?

Is it Real? The most honest answer is that channeling cannot currently be proved by scientific methods ~ and also cannot be honestly dismissed as obviously false. The evidence invites genuine inquiry rather than settled conclusion in either direction.

Is it Safe? The risks most commonly cited are psychological rather than supernatural: the risk of mistaking one's own projections or wishful thinking for external wisdom, and the risk of dependency ~ outsourcing one's own judgment to a Channel rather than developing inner discernment. Authentic channeling, as understood across traditions, actively develops the recipient's own capacity for knowing rather than replacing it.

Channeled Messages

A channeled message is a communication received from a non-physical source and transmitted through a human channel.

Reading channeled messages ~ whether they are from your spirit guides, higher self, or a specific person ~ involves bypassing your logical mind to connect with intuitive, external energy. Reading requires a somewhat different orientation than reading most other kinds of text ~ such as newspaper articles or instruction manuals ~ and tends to produce frustration.

Instead, consider this:

  • They are not primarily informational

  • They speak to the inner life

  • They invite reflection, not just reading

You can interpret them by quieting distractions, verifying the information against your gut feelings, and looking for themes that resonate with your personal experiences.

Channeling and the Teachings of Terra Lux

The Community of Terra Lux was founded around the teachings of Waith, an Archangel who has been communicating through the Channel Mushiba since 1987. Over nearly four decades, Waith's teachings have remained philosophically consistent and remarkably coherent ~ a body of work that now includes class transcripts, recordings, and written guidance spanning from 1987 to the present.

Waith's central teaching ~ the Search for Self ~ reflects the qualities most consistently associated with authentic channeled wisdom: it emphasizes personal responsibility and spiritual self-sufficiency, discourages dependency on any external authority (including Waith himself), and directs people toward their own inner resources. His stated purpose is to assist humans in what he calls Gaining Self Awareness ~ a process understood as deeply personal, individually expressed, and oriented toward balance between the inner and outer dimensions of life

Terra Lux makes a substantial archive of Waith's teachings publicly accessible at terralux.org, including transcripts and recordings that allow anyone to engage directly with the material and assess it for themselves. This transparency ~ an open record rather than a curated selection ~ is itself consistent with the hallmarks of authentic spiritual work.
