Old, Old Bibles

I share this humorous article I wrote for the church I am currently serving, for several reasons. One, we should remember that both the Bible and the Waith material are channelled information. Second, what is important is the information inside the covers rather than the encasement which contain the printed pages. And third, long after […]

So, What’s it Going to be ~ or, What Was it?

I sit here writing just 12 short hours before the big Valentine’s Day Nor’easter is scheduled to begin. Many of us have been here before ~ sometimes the heavy snow predictions come true and sometimes they don’t ~ snow turns into rain, and slush turns into mush.

The Screaming Universe

The Universe always has something to say. Sometimes it speaks to us via an intuitive notion with gentle feelings that guide us to action, and still there are other times it yells and is as subtle as a rainstorm in the desert. I write to you concerning the latter. Here is my story…

Surrender

Turning it Over and Letting Go are two phrases most commonly used when referring to Surrender. Surrender ~ a difficult task to say the least, yet as I have found over the years, one that is essential to our spiritual well being.

Letting Go

Letting Go is not a very new topic for many of us, yet, because letting go is paramount in my life right now, I thought I would address it. I have decided to sell the wonderful home that has been my primary residence for the past twenty years. Last year, while serving as an Interim […]

Sing! Sing a Song!

Recently I have found my way back to a piano bar where, believe it or not, I began my career as a professional musician over forty years ago. Though a different establishment than the ones I played in, the atmosphere, camaraderie, and overall goodwill and fun were still intact. There is something about sitting around […]

Losing a War

I can think of many things I’d rather do than take my cat to the Vet…especially when it is just for a routine shot. Planning a strategy to get her into the pet carrier is one that requires cunning and trickery and all out war. It never ceases to amaze me how a cat can […]

Spiritual Healing

Healing pain, be it physical or just plain sadness, I find to be one of the most challenging trials of our sojourn on earth. Dealing with pain is something we have in common. Life is not easy and to assume that we should be able to somehow side step this lesson is folly, not to […]

Living with Disappointments

I am writing this little tidbit for you all while I am nursing a bad back… which is doing a job on me, keeping me on the couch…quiet. I am listing to music, with my laptop on my lap. For those who know me, sitting stationary rather than stirring up dust and making a ton of noise is, needless to say, out of character. This experience has made me think and reflect on how much our setbacks and disappointments are a necessary part of our personal, spiritual growth.

Be in the World

There is an old song that is a favorite among older folk that was written at the end of the First World War, in 1919, by J. Keirn Brennan and Ernest R. Ball called, Let the Rest of the World Go By. A popular recording was made by crooner, Dick Haymes in 1944 when people were looking towards the end of World War II. It was also featured in the 1985 movie Out of Africa. The words reflect a popular sentiment ~
