OPA ~ CPA, Take 2
The last of the CPA exams proved to be perhaps the most difficult due to the amount of material to review. I took the test on May 30, the day of my 19th Wedding Anniversary. On July 5, the results came back. I received a 73 but the passing grade was a 75. Yuck!
The 15 month investment to date was just starting to become a fond memory ~ however, now I was faced with needing to regroup. I decided to take the test again in 3 1/2 weeks on July 31. That would allow me enough time to work on the weak areas such as Government Accounting while not letting my previous studies fade from view.
I pictured myself as a hiker and instead of finishing this leg of my journey, it was more like a water break. I had to once again drop the parts of my life that had been put off and continue on the path that would lead me to passing the CPA. Once again I found myself in my basement with candles going as I rotated through my pile of now scratched CDs and tried to stay focused. The 3 1/2 weeks dragged on as others around me enjoyed activities outside and went to fun places. I marched on to the tune of scratching pencils and beeping calculators. On July 31, I took the 4 hour test on schedule.
There are times in our life where our current standard of balance is shaken out of alignment. It may be due to a conscious decision (like mine in this example) or life may have other plans for us. In those cases, we have to flex our plan (or get flexed). Sure, it took me longer to catch up on other things than I originally expected but I came away from the exams with a sharper focus and a stronger sense of discipline and determination ~ gifts that were not free of charge but which I can now apply to other parts of my life.
So how did I do you ask? That will be the theme of my next article!

Berick, I know just how you feel! When we started up our little venture of AngelShoppe, my thoughts were that if it is a success, that’s a very good thing! If not, then “it’s the experience” that counts, for there have been many, many in the development! Elijah and I are blessed that we have so many well-wishings from Terra Lux, and that they are truly there for the taking ~ for all. We send you much love and light for your CPA results. Some of the keywords in my life now are Experience, Lighthearted, Imprinting, and Living-the-Life.
PS. For some reason your last sentence failed to reach my brain. I had to read and re-read your article because I was on the edge of my seat wondering if you passed this time. And then ~ I read the sentence that keeps me hanging on!

Your analogy of a “water break” during your journey, is wonderful! I am going to remember that one when I feel tired from a particular journey.

I echo what Buema said ~ the experience of studying, reaching deep down and finding that determination and focus is what will stay with you, long after you may use the results of the exam itself. But I really want to know! Did you pass? Did you pass?
